Exploring the city
Hey loves!
Time goes by really fast and I can't believe that in less than a month, I'll be back home hugging my friends and family again. Although I can't wait to see them again, I have also fallen in love with Hong Kong. The city has so much to offer and wherever you go, you can explore something new.
This weekend, I went out with one of my roomies and we did some Christmas Shopping and we found so many cool stores in Hong Kong. One store I would absolutely recommend is Dudes. It is the perfect store to find extraordinary gifts and cool stuff for Christmas or any other occasion. The store is sort of hidden and you need to know what you're searching for in order to find it, but the store is really amazing.
But the most amazing thing we discovered in Hong Kong is snow! Ok, it's not real snow (I mean, it's about twenty degrees Celsius in Hong Kong) but it is as close to snow as it can get. We went to Lai Chi Kok and there's a shopping mall called "D2". The mall has many super cute shops and a lot of handmade things. It's also one of my favorite places to go to for gifts.
But let's get back to the snow! On the rooftop of D2 is a small winter wonderland. As soon as you're up there, you feel like you just travelled to another place. It is amazing to stand on the rooftop and see all the other skyscrapers around you while you're in your little winter wonderland. It's like the whole city is living in autumn, but this rooftop is already experiencing winter. It is free to go there and it is definitely worth your time. However, I'd recommend to go there before 6pm, because otherwise you have to wait a long time in order to get in and this can take more than an hour. My roomie and I didn't have to wait at all and then it is a very enjoyable experience.
At 6pm, the mall lets it snow! Of course it's not real snow, but it does almost feel like snow. For about half an hour, you can enjoy snow on a rooftop. It was an amazing feeling to be up there and watch the sky filled with snowflakes. It was absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. And in general, the atmosphere up there is amazing. All people are really happy up there because it is just such a special place.
Being up there made me fall in love with Hong Kong once again and it also gives you a feeling of how amazing this experience you have is. However, it also made me look forward to going back home and feel and see real snow. It's one thing to see something that looks like snow, but it's another thing to really feel the winter and the snow.
My last two weeks of school are packed with tests and work, but I still really like the school and I am still happy to be here.
Lots of love,
Elena
P.S. My roomie and I also went to the Hard Rock Cafe and I got a new charm. It's a little memory of Hong Kong!
